Revealed: Borussia Dortmund bid for wonderkid rejected by Everton
By Wayne Veysey
Everton rejected an offer from Borussia Dortmund for wonderkid Anthony Gordon this summer, Football Insider can reveal.
The German giants made a move for the attacking midfielder, 18, after being hugely impressed by his development for the Everton and England youth teams.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that Dortmund wanted Gordon even though he signed a new four-year deal with the Merseysiders in March.
The versatile teenager has been training with the Everton first team squad this season after a series of impressive displays for the Under-23s.
German clubs have raided Premier League clubs for English talent in recent years, with Gordon’s former clubmate Ademola Lookman signing for RB Leipzig in the summer window for £22.5million following a lengthy pursuit.

Gordon made his debut for the Everton senior team two seasons ago in a dead-rubber Europa League group stage game away at Apollon Limassol, coming on for the last few minutes.
He has not added to that single appearance but has graduated from the club’s Under-18s to Under-23s, scoring four goals in three appearances this season, and is an England Under-19 international.
In other Everton news, it can be REVEALED that the club agreed to sign Premier League 21-year-old before the plug was pulled at the eleventh hour.
