Celtic have made an approach to sign Akmat Grozny left-back Milad Mohammadi, Football Insider understands.

The Scottish champions face competition from Fulham and Bristol City for the signature of the Iran wide defender.

A Hoops source has told Football Insider that the club have registered their interest in Mohammadi, who is available on a free transfer this summer.

This comes after Celtic weighed up moves for the Russian Premier League ace on the past two transfer windows.

The 25-year-old, who played in last summer's World Cup, is keen on a move to the UK and joining Celtic.

The treble chasers are in the market for a left-back ad Emilio Izaguirre is out of contract at Parkhead at the end of the season.

First choice Kieran Tierney has also struggled with pelvic and hip injuries in recent months.

Mohammadi also has the advantage of being able to double up as a left-sided midfielder and has a sound track record of creating goals from the flank.
