Rangers will have to wait until the end of the season to find out if they are in with a chance of luring Liverpool sensation Rhian Brewster, Football Insider understands.

The forward, 20, has made a big impact at Swansea City since joining on loan in January and he is set to be a key figure for them when the Championship campaign resumes on 20 June.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club have shortlisted Brewster as one of their many centre-forward targets this summer.

But they will not know if a deal is at all feasible until Jurgen Klopp makes up his mind on whether the rising star will go out on loan again.

That is likely to depend upon a number of factors, including what’s best for Brewster and Liverpool, and the club’s other transfer business.

The runaway Premier League leaders are in the market for a new forward this summer, with RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner their top target.

Should Liverpool succeed in landing the Germany international, it is likely Klopp will loan Brewster out again but he will not decide until the Premier League and Championship seasons have finished.

There is a possibility he will go up a level to a Premier League club next season rather than return to the Championship.

Rangers can also offer an alternative experience and high-level football in front of huge crowds, something that has lured Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria, Jon Flanagan and Sheyi Ojo in the last two years.

Brewster is rated far higher by Klopp and the Anfield coaches than any of that quartet.

He joined Swansea on loan in January only after struggling to force his way past the holy trinity of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who have a stranglehold of the Liverpool attacking slots.

Swansea beat Leeds, Huddersfield Town and Aston Villa to the England Under-21 international’s signature.

He has made a big impact at the Liberty Stadium, scoring four goals from his 11 Championship appearances, 10 of which have been starts.

The young centre-forward has only made three Liverpool senior appearances but has an outstanding record for his parent club and England at age-group level and has scored prolifically for all the teams he has played for.

In other Rangers news, the club have been given a major transfer boost after manager’s stunning reveal to Jim White.
