Thiago arrives at Anfield on the back of winning the Champions League with Bayern, where he had entered the final year of his contract.

Liverpool finalised negotiations with the Bundesliga holders yesterday morning, paving the way for the versatile midfielder to head to the UK for a medical and to put pen to paper on the contract.

He has been registered in time to make his eagerly-anticipated debut in Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Thiago has a magnificent CV that includes two Champions Leagues, seven German titles, four Spanish titles, four German Cups and two Spanish Cups.

He was a key member of the Bayern side that swept all before it last season, making 33 starts among 40 appearances in all competitions.
