Revealed: Major development in Charlton Athletic bid to sign Maddison
Charlton Athletic have hit a major stumbling block in their bid to sign Peterborough United star Marcus Maddison as he has yet to agree personal terms, Football Insider has learned.
The Championship club agreed a fee with Posh earlier this week for the playmaker and were given permission to hold talks with him over a move to the Valley.
A Charlton source has told Football Insider that the two parties have so far been unable to agree personal terms and are quite a distance apart over the offer on the table.
The news will alert a number of other clubs into possibly hijacking Charlton’s swoop for Maddison.
Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony has claimed he rejected multiple offers from other Championship sides for Maddison before accepting the bid from Lee Bowyer’s side.
Maddison’s contract contains a £2.5 million release clause and this has plunged his future at Posh into major doubt.

The League One promotion hopefuls are prepared to cash in on their star man this month rather than risk allowing him to run down his contract.
If Charlton are unable to reach an agreement with Maddison the former Newcastle United youngster could decide to see out his contract and leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
He is regarded as one of the best attacking players in the Football League after consistently delivering the goods during his time at Peterborough.
In 249 appearances for the club, Maddison has scored 62 goals and registered a remarkable 92 assists.
In other Charlton Athletic news, it can be REVEALED how the club have lined up a move to sign player from north-east.
