Revealed: Newcastle United now just weeks away from landing £31m payout

Newcastle United would pocket over £31million if they are able to qualify from their Champions League group stage, Football Insider can reveal.

The Magpies made their return to the competition this season after 20 years away and Eddie Howe’s side now find themselves top of Group F after two matches.

Despite being drawn into a difficult group, Newcastle remain unbeaten after a 4-1 win over PSG and a goalless draw against AC Milan.

As per Uefa’s official documents for 2023/24, Newcastle have already earned £13.5million for reaching the group stages, while each win is worth £2.4million and each draw brings in £800,000.

Uefa’s distribution also rewards teams for each round they reach and Newcastle will earn £8.3million if they are able to finish in the top two positions and reach the round of 16.

The return of European nights at St James’ Park has also resulted in sell-out crowds, and the stadium’s 52,000 capacity is set to bring in £2million per match - £6million for all three home games.

Overall, Football Insider analysis calculates that Newcastle’s accounts will be boosted by payments of £31million if they hold onto their top spot and reach the knockout stages.

That figure will also likely grow depending on their results as four more wins in the group stage would bring close to £10million into the club.

Newcastle are set to continue their Champions League campaign on Wednesday 25 October, with Borussia Dortmund the next side to visit St James’ Park.
