Tottenham have registered their interest in signing Lille sensation Nicolas Pepe this summer, Football Insider understands.

Spurs are in the market this summer to sign a youthful and hungry right-sided forward who can create and score goals.

A Tottenham recruitment source has told Football Insider the club have been keeping close tabs on Ligue 1 and the rapid development of Ivory Coast international Pepe.

The 23-year-old has caught the attention of Europe's elite clubs on the back of a campaign in which he has directly contributed to 34 goals from 36 appearances, through 20 strikes and 14 assists.

Like Liverpool's prolific Mohamed Salah, Pepe is left footed but has made his name as a pacy wide forward who operates on the right flank and cuts inside onto his favoured foot.

He delivered a man-of-the-match display in Lille's recent 5-1 demolition of Paris Saint-Germain to take his league goal tally for the season to 19, second only in Ligue 1 to 30-goal top man Kylian Mbappe.

Lille's president Gerard Lopez admits his club will struggle to prevent Pepe leaving.

"Four or five players will be leaving this summer,' he told Telefoot. "All clubs are forced to balance their accounts except perhaps one. I would say yes, it is sure he (Pepe) will leave.

"He enters a price range that can no longer be paid. There is a career choice to make for him, I think he will have the choice."
