Ryan Sessegnon’s potential move to Tottenham has stalled amid doubts over the future of Mauricio Pochettino, Football Insider understands.
The Fulham sensation is eager to sign for Spurs and they are his preferred destination ahead of other interested clubs including Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham are working on agreeing a fee with Fulham for the transfer of Sessegnon, with the possibility that his twin brother Steven could also be included as part of a double deal.
A source with knowledge of Sessegnon’s situation has told Football Insider that a significant factor in the left winger’s desire to join the north Londoners is to work under Pochettino.
However, the Spurs manager’s own future is not nailed down as he seeks clarity from chairman Daniel Levy over the club’s ambition and willingness to compete with with the elite Premier League and Champions League clubs.
Sessegnon, 19, will hold off on putting pen to paper on a Spurs deal until it is clear that Pochettino will remain as manager of the club for a sixth season.
The more famed of the Sessegnon twins has made a huge impact since breaking into the Fulham first team aged 16 and has already accumulated 120 first-team appearances, playing on both the left wing and at left-back.
Brother Steven made his senior bow in the League Cup aged 17 and has played four times for Fulham as a right-back.
He has a contract with the London club that runs until 2022, while fellow England youth international Ryan has a deal that expires next summer.
