Harry Kane has made it privately clear that under-fire Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has his full support, Football Insider understands.
The Spurs superstar’s stance will be key to the future of the Argentine as the club survey the wreckage of a dismal start to the season.
A Tottenham source told Football Insider that Kane has a close relationship with the man who has shaped his career and has told friends he is in no doubt the Pochettino is the man to turn around the team’s fortunes.
The prospect of Pochettino losing his job has been raised as a possibility just months after he was deemed untouchable for steering an unfancied side to the Champions League final.
The manager and Kane have a strong bond and this was key to the player signing a six-year contract last year, and was also fundamental in Pochettino putting pen to paper ona five-year deal.
The striker has made it clear behind the scenes that he believes the team’s issues, notably a growing frailty and ageing defence and keeper, are not solely down to the 47-year-old.
Crucially, Kane’s own form has barely suffered, with his nine Premier League and Champions League games yielding seven goals.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that chairman Daniel Levy intends to stand by Pochettino and give him time to steer the team back to calmer waters.
Spurs suffered the worst-home defeat in their 137-year history on Tuesday night when they were mauled 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
They are also 10 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and were eliminated from the League Cup by third-tier Colchester United last week.
In other Tottenham news, Levy’s stance on sacking Pochettino can be REVEALED in detail by Football Insider.
