Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is set to make a decision on his future early next week, Football Insider understands.

Bielsa is weighing up his future after Leeds fell just short of winning promotion back to the Premier League following their play-off semi-final defeat to Derby County.

A Leeds source told Football Insider that Bielsa’s current Leeds deal enables the club to trigger a 12-month extension before 31 May, but there is also an agreement between all parties that the South American can leave if he wants.

The Argentine had been expected to make up his mind over his future this week but extensive discussions with the club over the last week have yet to produce a definitive decision.

The decision on whether Bielsa stays or not is likely come down to any financial implications imposed by the board following failure to win promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds are bracing themselves for offers for their star players and the transfer budget is expected to be severely restricted.

The Argentine is a huge fans' favourite at Elland Road and the club's fans are desperate for him to remain at the club to lead another push for promotion next season.

However, Bielsa's impressive work at Leeds has made him a target for a number of clubs and the club are aware of the growing interest in the 63-year-old.
