Rice exit from West Ham 'will happen' after Sky Italy update - Phillips
Kevin Phillips has tipped Chelsea to seal a deal for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Sunderland and England striker claimed the 22-year-old will be keen to move to Stamford Bridge in pursuit of silverware.
According to Sky Italy‘s Angelo Mangiante (July 9th), the Hammers midfielder and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland are Chelsea’s top two targets this window.
West Ham rejected numerous bids for Rice last season but the Blues look set to test their resolve again.
The England international has three years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Rice’s future, Phillips said:

“If Chelsea come knocking and put in a big bid, it is going to happen.
“No disrespect to West Ham but Chelsea have just won the Champions League. Rice is still young but he will want to win trophies. He will want to join a club in Chelsea that are moving in the right direction and who will be up there, challenging for the title next season.
“It will happen, for me. It might cost a little bit more than Chelsea are willing to pay but I can see them pushing it through.
“It would be a big blow to West Ham but he will want to play for Chelsea, for sure.”
Rice was one of England’s standout performers at the European Championship.
He started seven fixtures in total, including Sunday’s penalty shootout defeat to Italy.
