TalkSPORT pundit and former Premier League defender Danny Gabbidon has slammed Jurgen Klopp’s decision to give attacking star Philippe Coutinho just 45 minutes in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat against Leicester.
The Merseyside giants were dumped out of the EFL Cup at the third round stage on Tuesday evening after two second half goals from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani gave the Foxes the win at the King Power stadium.
The match was also notable for giving star Coutinho just his second start for the club this season following reported interest from Euro giants Barcelona through he summer.
However, the Brazilian was brought off for youngster Ben Woodburn in a half-time switch and Gabbidon has claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that it was a bizarre decision that is only used in pre-season games, rather than a competitive fixture.
I can't ever remember as a player being told your only playing 45 mins in a competitive game. Pre Season yes of course. Ridiculous decision.

Now, Liverpool will have of course been disappointed at being knocked out of the League Cup on Tuesday, but both the league and Champions League will be their primary focus this season.
