Centre-back great Rio Ferdinand has named out on loan defender Mamadou Sakho as Liverpool’s best in the back four.
The 27-year-old is currently with Crystal Palace until the end of the season after falling out with manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer which saw him frozen out of the club for the first half of the season.
However, he has starred in his first four outings for Palace since his move with the south east London club winning all four matches, keeping three clean sheets.
Many are now starting to doubt if Klopp was right to exclude the player they initially signed for £18million in 2013, especially with the lack of depth behind star centre-back duo Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip in the team.
Former Manchester United man Ferdinand would also appear to have his doubts as he labelled Sakho as Liverpool’s “best defender.”
“Sakho, Liverpool’s best defender,” started Ferdinand when naming his Premier League team of the week on YouTube.
“On loan to Crystal Palace. There’s no coincidence their form has gone up through the roof since he’s been at the club.”
Sakho has featured 80 times for Liverpool since his pricey move from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain four years a go.
However, the 28-time capped France international’s future may lie elsewhere if his relationship with Klopp is irreparable.
The centre-back star still has three years remaining on his Liverpool contract and fans may be keen to hand him a second chance with their frailties currently lying at the back.
