Robbie Savage: I would rather have this fantastic Manchester United player over De Bruyne

By Will Butcher

Robbie Savage has claimed that Manchester United ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan is better than Kevin De Bruyne.

Savage conducted a poll on Twitter asking who fans would prefer if they were choosing a side, which saw 60 per cent of fans choose De Bruyne.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, Savage claimed that both players were “fantastic” but he would rather have Mkhitaryan in his side over Man City’s De Bruyne.

The Armenia international has starred in Jose Mourinho’s side after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, following his £26million move from Borussia Dortmund.

Playing out wide, the summer signing has reinvigorated his career with United in recent times by scoring three goals in his last three games against Zorya, Tottenham and Sunderland.

Belgium international De Bruyne is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s best playmakers, after having a hand in 45 goals in 64 league and cup appearances for City.

Scoring 19 of those, De Bruyne has also provided 26 assists and is will be a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s side as they look to regain the Premier League title this season.

But former Man United youth player Savage would rather have Armenia captain Mkhitaryan as his side as he continues the form that saw him score 18 times last season.
