Roberto Firmino will be 'seriously worried' after what pundit has seen at Liverpool
Roberto Firmino will be “seriously worried” about his Liverpool future after the emergence of January signing Luis Diaz, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 30-year-old could be a “casualty” with Jurgen Klopp’s side looking to bring in “fresh blood” this summer.
Diaz netted yet another crucial goal against Tottenham on Saturday (7 May), levelling the scores at 1-1 with 16 minutes remaining to keep Liverpool’s dreams of a quadruple alive.
Firmino has been sidelined for the last six games across all competitions.
However, the forward is back in full training after picking up a foot injury last month.
The Brazil international is contracted until June 2023.

Whelan suggested the form of Diaz will have planted a “seed of doubt” in the head of Firmino.
“There’s competition all over the place, and that’s what you want when you’re trying to win every trophy,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“It’s no different to the likes of Man City. You can’t be vying for that quadruple without having a big squad.
“Diaz’s form has probably just put that seed of doubt into the head of Firmino. Is he really going to get another deal?
“He’ll be seriously worried. You’re looking at his age as well. It seems Liverpool are now trying to bring in some fresh blood.
“Firmino could be a casualty of that.”
Diaz has notched six goals and three assists in 22 appearances since joining Liverpool for a reported £37million in January.
Firmino has made just nine starts in the Premier League this term.
