Paul Robinson is baffled as to why Eddie Howe has not accepted the Celtic job.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suspects the 43-year-old is stalling because he is waiting for an offer from a Premier League club.
This site revealed last Monday that Roy Keane is back in the frame to be succeed Neil Lennon as manager with Howe having second thoughts on a move to Parkhead.
Football Insider understands the ex-Bournemouth boss is leaning towards a return to the Premier League over Celtic.
Howe‘s name has been linked with Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Brighton, while there is currently a vacant position at Tottenham following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the latest developments, Robinson said: “I do not know what Howe wants.
“He has an opportunity to go to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, with one of the best supports in the world where he will have a good chance of winning some silverware. It is a huge opportunity and I cannot understand why he would not jump at the chance.
“It may be because he is eyeing up a job in the Premier League.
“Yes, he has decent stock as a coach and his man management skills are very good but I would not want him in charge of Tottenham. Tottenham need and I think will appoint a world-class manager and I do not think he falls into that category.
“He has only ever been in his comfort zone. I think he still has a lot to prove.”
