Tanguy Ndombele is proving to be “worth every penny” of the £54million Tottenham paid for his services in 2019, according to Paul Robinson.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one heaped praise on the 24-year-old who has been “absolutely outstanding” in recent games.
Ndombele starred for Spurs on Sunday as they climbed to fifth in the table with a 3-1 win at Bramall Lane.
The big-money signing from Lyon scored an audacious lob in the victory – his third goal in the Premier League this season.
Robinson claimed the France international is striking a “great partnership” with summer arrival Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the centre of midfield.
“We saw in the Spurs documentary how unsettled he was at times last season,” he told Football Insider.
“He has had his ups and downs since he has come in but the way he is playing at the moment is fantastic. He looks to be worth every penny of the transfer fee they paid for him.
“Of late he has been absolutely outstanding. He has got a new lease of life this season and Jose Mourinho has found him a position that suits.
“His goal at the weekend was outstanding. He meant every bit of it. There was no luck involved whatsoever.
“Ndombele and Hojbjerg are striking up a great partnership in that midfield. They have such an understanding.
“I think they will both get better and better. We are seeing the best of Ndombele at the moment.”
