The next two months are “massive” for Tottenham and will determine the futures of Harry Kane and Jose Mourinho.
That is the view of former White Hart Lane number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Kane’s recent comments regarding his plans this summer.
As quoted by Sky Sports, the England captain revealed on Sunday that he will decide his future after this summer’s Euros.
Kane has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract in north London, having renewed terms in June 2018.
He has been in scintillating form this season, with 27 goals and 16 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
When asked for his assessment of Kane’s recent comments, Robinson told Football Insider: “He didn’t say that he wants to leave, but this season is now key.
“He is at the peak of his career and he has been absolutely phenomenal for Spurs this season and you could understand it if he leaves to try and win things.
“This season is key for both Kane and Mourinho’s future.
“This could be a very bad season but there is a chance it could be a very good season. Spurs could finish in the top four and win the League Cup and if so, it’s a great season. But if not…
“Harry Kane has left the door open for all options and you can understand why he has.
“If I’m honest, I could understand him wanting to leave to win trophies. I also know he loves Spurs and has such an affinity to the love club.
“He would love to win trophies at Spurs so these next couple of months are massive for his future.”
