Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Netherlands winger Donyell Malen amid reported interest from Liverpool in his signature.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper suggested the 22-year-old would be well-suited to playing in Jurgen Klopp's side.

According to Sky Germany, via Jan Aage Fjortoft (24th June), Liverpool have opened talks with the PSV Eindhoven winger about a potential summer move.

However, they face stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund who see Malen as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho following his departure to Manchester United.

As quoted by Anfield Watch (28th June), PSV manager Roger Schmidt admitted Malen is "likely to leave" in the summer window.

When asked by Football Insider if Malen would be a success in the Premier League, Robinson said: "I think he was great when he played in the Euros.

"When he came into the team he really stretched defences with his pace. He's super quick.

"He has a great relationship with Depay. The two of them worked really well together.

"Malen is a player that I really like. He can play across the front line and is a real threat. He can score and create goals.

"At just 22 years old, I expect there to be a lot of clubs after him this summer.

"The Premier League is a very attractive proposition for players. His style of play would suit one of the high press, attacking teams in the Premier League."
