Robinson makes bold Bergwijn prediction after what he's seen at Tottenham
Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham forward Steven Bergwijn to “flourish” under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
The ex-Spurs goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the Dutchman could become a “main fixture” for Spurs after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
Bergwijn has starred in both of Tottenham’s Premier League victories this season, contributing an assist for Son Heung-Min’s winner against Manchester City.
The ex-PSV winger also impressed away at Wolves on Sunday (August 22nd) as Tottenham ran out 1-0 victors.
Bergwijn’s opportunities were limited under former boss Mourinho last season.
The 23-year-old scored just once in 13 starts in the Premier League.

Robinson insisted the 12-cap Netherlands international was unlucky to be on the fringes under Mourinho.
“I think he’s always been a top player,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“He was unlucky with game time under Mourinho – I don’t know whether he was defensive-minded enough for him.
“He was a great player when he came, he scored that goal on his debut.
“Under a different manager, I think he will flourish.
“He could become a main fixture depending on the system Nuno plays, his power, pace and tenacity brings something else that Spurs don’t have.
“I managed to get into the stadium during the pandemic and I was just so impressed when watching him.”
The winger joined Spurs in January 2020 and scored on his debut against Manchester City in a 2-0 home win.
Bergwijn has scored four goals in 53 games across all competitions for the Lilywhites.
