Robinson: Tottenham 'would be crazy' to let Davies exit after reported update
Paul Robinson has claimed Tottenham would be “crazy” to allow Ben Davies to leave while no manager in place amid interest from Napoli in his signature.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one heaped praise on the 28-year-old who has been “incredibly consistent” for Spurs in recent seasons.
According to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato (via Napoli Magazine 21 June), Napoli are eyeing a move for the Spurs left-back this summer.
The Italian giants are said to prefer Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri but if their bid to sign him fails they will turn their attention to Davies.
Davies is currently on international duty at the Euros with Wales.
He has three years remaining on his contract in north London.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Spurs could afford to let Davies leave with Sergio Reguilon at the club, Robinson said:
“It would be crazy to allow a player like Ben Davies to leave when there is no manager in place.
“There is a very good squad of players at Spurs but at the end of the day Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho could not win a trophy with them.
“Whichever manager comes in, it is not about picking up where Mourinho left off. This squad needs a rebuild now. They need two new centre-halves for a start.
“The nucleus of the squad is very good though and Ben Davies would fall into that category. He has been an incredibly consistent performer for Spurs over the years.
“I would not like to see him go before we know who is in charge and what direction they want to go in.”
