Robinson View: West Ham may lose star man in 2021 amid Liverpool link

West Ham may still lose Declan Rice this summer despite Chelsea’s interest cooling amid reported Liverpool interest.

That is the view of former England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the prospect of the 22-year-old midfielder leaving the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

Lampard was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge on Monday and former PSG and Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has succeeded him.

The Guardian claim Lampard’s sacking will likely see the Blues end their interest in Declan Rice after numerous attempts to sign him in the summer.

It is reported that Lampard was the driving figure behind Chelsea’s pursuit of the 10-times England international.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Rice’s long-term future, Robinson said: “Listen, you will always find it hard to keep a player of Declan Rice’s quality.

“There is a pecking order, and if a Champions League club come knocking for one of your best players with an offer that is attractive to you – it will be difficult.

“While I think the interest from Chelsea will cool, there will be other clubs interested in the summer, I am sure.”

According to Eurosport, Liverpool have shortlisted the Hammers midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window as they prepare for the probable exit of Georginio Wijnaldum.

Rice has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium and is widely regarded as the Irons’ star man.

In other news, West Ham have been tipped to change their formation after a big transfer development.
