Rocco Vata could leave Celtic this summer for a fee of £2-3million, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider journalist and Scottish expert Daniel Bowers, speaking to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, revealed that the 19-year-old has “impressed massively” when he’s featured for the Hoops.

Watford and Bologna are also keen on signing the Republic of Ireland U-21 international as the race for his signature hots up.

Vata has rejected a new deal with Brendan Rodgers’s side and could now leave the Scottish champions this summer.

There is a clamour to see more of the midfielder who first joined Celtic when he was seven, and there would be disappointment amongst supporters if he was to leave the club.

Vata is highly rated, and the fact that fewer players have come through the academy in the past decade does bolster the fan interest in him.

However, the lack of minutes he’s played is an issue, as the young Scot is actively seeking more playing time, which could lead to his departure from Celtic Park.

Celtic might not be the right place for Vata

Although his father was a memorable player at Celtic in the early 1990s, the nostalgia might not be enough to keep Vata at the club.

The forward made just one cameo appearance in the Scottish Premiership last season, with most of his game time coming in the Lowland League.

That’s why a move to the Championship could be ideal for him, as it would present the opportunity for more playing time, allowing him to grow as a player.

Benjamin Siegrist is among the players that McAvennie believes is surplus to requirements, which could lead to a busy window for the Hoops.
