Rodgers names four Rangers summer signings who have blown him away

Brendan Rodgers has revealed he tried to sign Graham Dorrans for Swansea as he named four Rangers summer signings who have blown him away.
The Celtic manager admitted he’s a long-time admirer of central midfielder Dorrans, who was one of Pedro Caixhiha’s key summer recurits in an overhaul of his Ibrox squad.
Rodgers also identified centre-back Bruno Alves, striker Alfredo Morelos and Dorrans’ midfield partner Ryan Jack as three others who have impressed him since they moved to Ibrox.
Celtic managed five derby wins out of six meetings last season plus one draw at Parkhead and Rodgers takes his all-conquering side to Govan for Saturday’s lunchtime Old Firm clash.
It will be a new-look Light Blues side he faces and he pinpointed the players he regards as the main threats, including Dorrans, who joined West Brom from Livingston in 2008.

“Graham Dorrans is a player I have always liked. In fairness to Pedro, he has come in and had to assess the group and have a look at it.
“He has virtually overhauled the whole squad really. It’s virtually a new team. They are playing in a 4-4-2 structure, and they have good players.
“Bruno Alves has a great history in the game and he has come in to add that experience to them. They have also signed a couple of players that wouldn’t be so known to many, but Alfredo Morelos looks like a finisher in the box and can get his goals.
“There are boys like Ryan Jack who know the league and have been around.”
Celtic are unbeaten in 55 domestic matches after carrying on where they left off last season, when they secured the domestic treble.
Rangers have showed encouraging signs under Caixinha in recent weeks and secured a place in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals following their Tuesday night 3-1 win at Partick Thistle.
