Danny Mills has suggested Brendan Rodgers may be tempted to take the Tottenham job if he has the chance to treble his wages.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Manchester City defender insisted “everybody has a price” as Spurs look to lure the Leicester City boss at the end of the season.
Football Insider understands Tottenham have made Rodgers their top choice to replace Jose Mourinho and are willing to triple his Leicester wages.
That would represent a £15million-a-year salary, including bonuses, as Spurs are willing to “offer him the earth”.
Sky Sports reported earlier this week Rodgers was not interested in the job as he believes Leicester have the opportunity to regularly challenge for the European places.
However, Mills has suggested he may U-turn if offered the right financial package.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s always very, very difficult to turn it down when someone’s going to offer you ludicrous amounts of money.
“Everybody has a price, no matter what. That will be very tempting for him.
“If they offer him three times his money, I’d turn around and say ‘I want four times what I’m earning.’
“Where else are they going to go? Who else are Tottenham going to attract?
“Maurizio Sarri? I don’t see that working out long-term, I don’t see that being a good fit.
“Obviously Julian Nagelsmann’s gone to Bayern. Erik ten Hag has said ‘No thanks, I want to stay at Ajax.’
“Where do you start to look now?”
Rodgers has guided the Foxes to an FA Cup final this season and looks set to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
They currently sit in third, seven points clear of fifth, with five games left to play.
