Rodney Marsh has shut down the chances of Tottenham winning the Premier League title despite leaders Chelsea losing at the weekend.

Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon after Spurs had reduced the gap to four points following their win against Bournemouth the day before.

It means that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have given themselves hope of lifting their maiden PL crown with six games of the season remaining.

However, former England international Marsh has given a blunt explanation as to why Tottenham won’t fulfil their dreams.

“Loads saying title race is on,” Marsh wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Wrong. The title race has been over for weeks. Spurs are not going to be perfect and Chelsea won’t lost more than two games.”

The up and coming weekend will see Spurs clash with the league leaders in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

The winner of that match will look to take confidence going into the remaining league games added with the fact that they have the chance to lift the FA Cup.

Over the course of the season, Chelsea have won 24 league matches, drawn three and lost five encounters.

By contrast, their title challengers have recorded 21 victories added with their eight draws and three losses.

After the FA Cup clash, Antonio Conte’s side will host Southampton at Stamford Bridge on April 25, with Spurs taking on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park the day after.
