Rodney Marsh: This Liverpool player is signing of the season (not Mane)

By Harvey Byrne

Rodney Marsh believes Crystal Palace’s signing of Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool is the best loan addition of the season.

The 27-year-old centre-back is still contracted with the Reds until 2020 following his £18million move from Paris-Saint Germain in the summer of 2013.

However, after falling out with manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer he was completely frozen out of the Merseyside giants’ team, forcing him into a move to Sam Allardyce’s battling Palace team until the end of the season.

The Frenchman has certainly impressed in his first six appearances in London, helping the side to five victories and just one defeat.

Of those wins included a brilliant 3-0 win over Arsenal on Monday evening and during the game former England international Marsh hailed him as the best loan signing of the season, while also rating his display 10 out of 10 on his personal Twitter account.

Liverpool did bring in two centre-backs in the summer in the forms of Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip.

However, it is the £34million of attacker Sadio Mane from Southampton which has caught the most plaudits with the Senegal international becoming an instant star at the club.

With the Reds’ centre-back issues at the club still remaining many are hoping Sakho’s fine displays may help him rebuild his relationship with Klopp, but it is still not certain how much of a future the Frenchman has at Liverpool
