Tom Rogic’s future at Celtic is in limbo after he rejected a new contract with the club last month and has failed to give any indications as to whether he wants to stay, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim the Australian attacking midfielder, 25, remains in discussions with Hoops chiefs about a new agreement but they are baffled as to what his intentions are.
It is said that the ball is firmly in the court of Rogic, whose current deal with the Scottish champions expires in the summer of 2019.
Rogic has struggled with injuries this season but demonstrated his calibre with the first Celtic equaliser in their 3-2 win over Rangers two weekends ago and has scored five goals and supplied eight assists from 32 appearances in all competitions in 2017-18.
Since joining the club in 2014, he has scored 27 goals and supplied 22 assists from 123 Celtic appearances.
Australian outlet The World Game recently reported that Rogic is valued at £3.4million.
Football Insider verdict:
Celtic are certainly a better and more clinical side with Rogic in it. His dazzling feet, ability to carry the ball forward and pull away from defenders in tight spots make him very difficult for opponents to stem, and he is a player that Brendan Rodgers can ill afford to lose. Like Moussa Dembele, Rogic also saves his best for the marquee matches, a sign of a player comfortable with the big stage. Celtic are in a difficult situation as the Aussie enters the final year of his deal. The sense is that he will wait to see what interest there is in his services on the back of the World Cup before making a decision on his future.
In other Celtic news, it has been revealed today that the Scottish champions have launched a bid to sign the a brilliant English Championship player who is out of contract this summer.
