Romelu Lukaku told to 'write off' Chelsea deal as emphatic new claim issued - pundit

Noel Whelan has told Romelu Lukaku to “write off” his Chelsea contract if he is desperate to move back to Inter Milan.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League forward insisted Lukaku has played his last game for Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday (20 June) that Inter are confident that the 29-year-old will return to the club on a season-long loan.

It is claimed a £8.56million (€10millon) plus add-ons loan fee has been discussed and the Seria A giants will cover all of his salary.

“He doesn’t have a future at Chelsea,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I think he made his mind up on that one, not the club, not the fans. The player has made this move.

“I’m sure if this interview hadn’t have come out you would have had Lukaku there for four years but he’s kind of pushed this move and forced the hand of Chelsea to make this move which is really unfair.

“They paid a lot of money for him to come in and be that centre-forward, that number nine that they needed and it has not materialised.

“I cannot see the door opening back for him. No matter how good of a player he is, and he’s a fantastic player, but I think this is the last we’ll see of Lukaku in a Chelsea shirt.

“If a player really wants to move that much and is that desperate to go back to Inter then write your contract off and do the right thing. He’s made this problem at Chelsea happen.

“He’s tried to force a move. You don’t need to force a move, just ask for a transfer request, forfeit all the money that you are due and be happy at Inter Milan. That’s what a good person should do.”
