Romero will be 'big miss' for Tottenham after early team news pre-Newcastle - Robinson

Paul Robinson has insisted Cristian Romero will be “a big miss” for Tottenham on Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one fears the Spurs defence could get exposed in what will be an “incredible” atmosphere at Newcastle United.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side travel to St. James’ Park on Sunday in what will be the first game of the post-takeover era on Tyneside.

According to The Daily Mail (6th October), Spurs are likely to be without Romero and Giovani Lo Celso for the trip because of their international commitments.

It comes after Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has confirmed no Premier League players will be released early from his squad.

Argetina take on Peru on Friday, with Spurs playing Newcastle 48 hours later.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs how big a blow Romero’s loss would be, Robinson said: “The atmosphere is going to be incredible.

“The takeover has brought a buzz to the area. You have seen the fans in the last week. The first game at St. James’ is going to be the pinnacle.

“It is going to be a tough game for Spurs in that atmosphere. Spurs are the far better team though.

“Romero will be a big miss for them, especially if [Callum] Wilson is back.

“Romero should have been playing from the start of the season. He showed in the last game that he is an elite centre-half. They will miss him dearly. I think they could have some problems back there without him.”

In other news, senior players at Tottenham are ‘unhappy’ with Nuno and a dressing room mutiny is on the cards.
