'Rumour is hot' – Fjortoft claims Klopp lining up 'signing of summer' with 'brilliant' forward for Liverpool

Former Liverpool player Jan Aage Fjortoft has claimed that there is a ‘hot’ rumour Germany that Liverpool are going to sign Timo Werner.

He states that he watched the player live on Friday and that he was “brilliant”.

Fjortoft went on to say that if Klopp did manage to sign the 22-year-old centre forward from RB Leipzig, that it would be the ‘signing of the summer’.

Werner signed for RB Leipzig from Stuttgart for £9million in the summer of 2016.

He’s scored 39 goals in 69 games for the Bundesliga side and has scored seven goals in 11 games for Germany.

This is exciting news for Liverpool. Fjortoft might preface his tweet with two ‘IF’s but he also says that the rumour is hot in Germany. It begs the question, do Liverpool really need any more attackers, but when you’re talking about someone as good and as young as Werner, it doesn’t really matter. Would he make Liverpool a better side? Without a shadow of a doubt and Liverpool fans will be hoping this is one rumour that’s got legs.
