Russell Martin's position as Rangers manager feels at its most precarious yet after the Gers had to settle for a point at Falkirk.

Martin has faced the sack at Rangers over the past few weeks amid the poor results and performances at the club.

A 1-1 draw at Falkirk means Rangers remain in the bottom half of the table, already 11 points off the league leaders Hearts.

The international break now gives the Ibrox board two weeks to change manager, with Steven Gerrard potentially returning to Rangers to replace Martin.

Russell Martin quizzed on Rangers future

Martin was again questioned about his future after Falkirk, with the former Southampton boss saying the decision is out of his hands.

"It's really difficult when you ask this question, because it's not in my control," Martin said.

"What I can control is we need to win more football matches and we need to work harder to do that."

Martin has only won five matches in charge of Rangers, and they were fortunate to leave Falkirk with a point.

Kris Boyd demands Martin axe

As per BBC Sport, [5 October], former Rangers striker Kris Boyd believes a change at the club is now necessary.

"Rangers looked disjointed and no doubt, anxious in the second half," Boyd said.

"Something has to change because this is not good enough.

"They've not been to Tynecastle, Easter Road, Celtic Park, Pittodrie, Tannadice or Rugby Park.

"This is only going to get worse if it doesn't change."

Boyd criticised Mikey Moore's performance against Falkirk, and has not held back in his assessment of Martin.

After the international break, Rangers host Dundee United, potentially without Martin in charge.
