Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos may be quitting Rangers for £70,000-a-week deals after confirmed talks - pundit
Rangers may lose Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos because they can demand wages of £70,000-a-week elsewhere, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed it will be “very difficult” for Rangers to get Kent, 25, and Morelos, 26, to sign new contracts.
As relayed by Rangers Review last week, Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed the club had opened talks with the pair over new deals.
They are both out of contract at the end of the 2022-23 campaign and the club do not want to lose them on free transfers.
Joe Aribo was in a similar position before he moved to Southampton for an initial fee of £6million.
Asked whether the Gers can get the key attacking duo to commit their futures to Ibrox, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s very difficult.

“Players talk, agents talk. They will know what the top Championship clubs and Premier League clubs can pay.
“I don’t think Rangers can match those wages. Maybe that’s why these players won’t sign new contracts.
“It’s very difficult to match the £50,000-a-week, £60,000-a-week, £70,000-a-week that some of these players are getting.
“Kent and Morelos will want similar money to what Aribo is now getting [at Southampton]. Rangers can’t get anywhere near that.
“Maybe they can keep them for another year and then let them go on a free.
“They can’t afford to lose Aribo and Kent in the same summer. It will make it harder for them to get closer to Celtic.
“Tom Lawrence is a great signing, I really like him so he’ll be a top player for them as well.”
In other news, Rangers are racing to sign an exciting 22-year-old.
