Vinny Samways: I fully expect this 24-year-old to be at Tottenham next season

By Richard Parks

Vinny Samways has insisted that he fully expects Harry Kane to be at Tottenham next season despite growing speculation about Real Madrid interest.

The Spanish press have linked the Champions League holders with a mega-money pursuit of Spurs’ talisman and main goalscorer on the back of his astonishing exploits in recent seasons.

But former Spurs midfielder Samways is not convinced that Real will succeed in prising him away in the forthcoming window, especially as chairman Daniel Levy will not be willing to cave in.

“To be fair Daniel Levy over the years has shown he will not be bullied by no one if he doesn’t think the deal is right,” Samways told the Sun.

“I believe Harry will be at Spurs next season to take them into the new stadium and see how it develops from there.

“If Spurs are still pushing for trophies then I’m sure he will be happy to stay.

“We all know when the big boys come knocking like Real Madrid and Barcelona, they are persistent and they normally get who they want, just look at Philippe Coutinho.”

Football Insider verdict:

Aged 24, Kane has the world at his feet and it is little wonder that Europe’s elite are beating a path to Tottenham’s door and are said to be ready to try and bang it down with bags of cash. Given the team’s continued progress this season, Spurs should be confident of holding on to their academy product and crown jewel for at least one more season, but it won’t help their case if they crash out of the Champions League tonight and end the season outside the top four places in the Premier League. They are well placed to progress in both, but Kane will continue to have to pilfer goals at the rate he has done in recent seasons. Few would bet against that following his 35 goals from 37 Spurs appearances this season.
