Dane Scarlett will be the next Tottenham youngster to leave the club on loan after impressing for the youth sides this season.

That’s according to former Sunderland forward Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Scarlett’s first-team chances.

Scarlett, 17, has 22 goals in 22 total appearances across several competitions this season at various levels for Spurs, including the first team.

The attacker signed his first professional deal with the club last week and Phillips claims he will be the next young player to leave Tottenham on loan to further his development.

“Yeah, I would say so,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs when asked if Scarlett will leave on loan next season.

“Tottenham have got a history of sending guys out, even Harry Kane when he was younger so I think it’s a sensible decision.

“Instead of sitting him on the bench week in week out and giving him the odd a few minutes. We saw that with Troy Parrott.

“Scoring that amount of goals in any league is good, even in the Tottenham Under 18s you’re playing some good sides so he obviously knows where the back of the net is.

“Making that jump straight to the Premier League is difficult so you would want him to go via League One or the Championship so I expect him to go out on loan next season, he’s ready for it.”

Scarlett has made his Europa League and Premier League debuts this season after impressing with the club’s youth sides.

Throughout this season Scarlett has picked up an impressive 15 goals and four assists in 13 U18 Premier League games.
