Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon has spoken about the club missing out on the Scottish Premiership title three weeks after the season ended.

The Jambos lost 3-1 at Celtic on the final day of the season to miss out on the league title by two points to the Glasgow side.

Hearts had led the Scottish Premiership table for 250 days, but the Edinburgh club felt decisions had gone against them in the final weeks of the season.

The Scottish FA's match incident panel confirmed that Celtic should not have been awarded a stoppage time penalty at Motherwell, which meant Hearts had to get a positive result to win the league on the final day.

It was also confirmed that Hearts should have been awarded a penalty at Motherwell for a foul on Alexandros Kyziridis, a decision which cost Derek McInnes' side the opportunity to earn all three points at Fir Park.

Craig Gordon feels 'injustice' at Hearts title defeat

Gordon only started two Scottish Premiership matches this season, as the 43-year-old had to settle to being back up to number one Alexander Schwolow.

The former Celtic goalkeeper though feels the pain of Hearts' failure to secure the title after he posted a lengthy message on Instagram.

Gordon believes he still doesn't have the words to sum up what happened on the final day of the season, calling it one of the "most emotional moments of my career."

The Scotland international said he felt the "anger, the disappointment, the injustice. But the support and togetherness too."

Gordon praised the Hearts fans for their support, saying he felt "proud" to be part of the team.

Captain Lawrence Shankland, who has since moved to Rangers, and Scotland teammate Ryan Christie both liked the post.

Hearts backed to replace Lawrence Shankland

After going so close to winning the Scottish Premiership title, Hearts face a huge task trying to challenge Celtic and Rangers at the top of the division again next season.

The departure of Shankland is already a huge loss to McInnes, with the 30-year-old having scored 20 goals in all competitions this season.

Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, believes that Hearts shareholder Tony Bloom will have Shankland's replacement lined up.

Bloom, and his Jamestown Analytics company, have a strong reputation at Brighton for finding talent in the transfer market at an affordable price, which is something Hearts should benefit from.
