Scottish Premiership title race: Motherwell stats make difficult reading for Celtic fans ahead of Hearts clash

The Scottish Premiership title race is set to hit its most important game week left this weekend as Celtic and Hearts fight for the trophy.

On Saturday, the Jambos face a difficult trip away to Motherwell, with the Old Firm derby set to take place on Sunday.

Many Celtic fans will be praying for a home victory at Fir Park to give the club a chance to go top come the end of the game week.

Currently, the Hoops are three points behind the Jambos, with just three matches remaining.

However, few stats indicate that Motherwell are capable of picking up a victory, to the dismay of Celtic.

Celtic need Hearts to slip up against Motherwell

This includes a 3-1 comeback victory just last month at Tynecastle.

On top of this, both of Hearts’ last two visits to Fir Park have ended 0-0, with Derek McInnes’ side arguably being the better side on both occasions.

Going into the match, the Steelmen have also been woeful, winning one of their last seven matches.

As a result, since the start of March, they have picked up the fewest points in the Scottish Premiership at four.

These stats will be difficult reading for many Celtic fans, with it being clear that Hearts are likely to pick up a result against Motherwell and damage their title hopes once more.

Can Hearts hold onto their star players this summer?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Hearts are confident of fending off interest from Celtic and Rangers for their star players this summer.

Whether the Jambos win the league or not, it has no doubt been a sensational campaign for the Edinburgh side.

Players such as Claudio Braga and Lawerance Shankland have shone, with the club on track to also qualify for the Champions League.

With teams such as Rangers and Celtic likely to be sniffing around the best performers, Hearts will be hopefully that they can keep their squad together for the 2026-27 campaign, and even improve upon it during the summer transfer window.
