Scottish pundit claims Celtic sensation Jota is telling fibs after transfer claim
Alan Hutton has insisted Jota will be thinking about his future “every day of the week” at Celtic despite playing coy in interviews.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Benfica loanee, 22, would want to be “settled and happy” after his second temporary spell away in as many years.
As quoted by BBC Sport (22nd November), Jota insisted he is not thinking about his future despite Celtic holding an optional purchase clause in his loan terms.
However, Hutton insisted fans would have to take the winger’s comments with a “pinch of salt”.
He suggested the winger would be desperate to find a club to call home.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Take that with a pinch of salt. He’ll be thinking about his future every day of the week. I’ll tell you that right now.
“He’s just saying the right things for everybody. He wants to keep everybody happy, he wants to keep the Celtic fans happy and all the rest of it.
“He’s saying the right things but every footballer wants to be settled and happy. They want to have their future all planned for them and everything to be rosy. That’s what you want.
“Having that is another story but look, he’s done excellent since he’s come in. He’s really hit the ground running, he’s a main player for them at the moment and makes things happen.”
Jota has played 15 times for Celtic so far, with six goals and six assists under his belt.
He spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid, where he made 18 appearances.
