Alan Hutton has warned Siriki Dembele’s younger brother could scupper a move to Celtic.
The former Rangers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Karamoko Dembele could tell his brother to move elsewhere.
Barry Fry, Peterborough’s director of football, has revealed Dembele will be sold this summer after handing in a transfer request in January, as first revealed by this site.
Fry recently outlined the club’s position while speaking to This is Futbol and admitted “we put you on the transfer list” if players refuse to sign a new deal while in the last year of their contract.
Dembele, 18, only made five appearances for Celtic last season but all of his outings came off the bench.
He struggled for game time under Neil Lennon but managed to grab himself a goal during the post-split season.
Hutton has warned Dembele’s experiences this season could result in him telling his brother to move elsewhere.
“The younger Dembele hasn’t had the best time this season,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“They thought he was going to be the next big thing but he never got the game time under Lennon.
“It depends. He could give his brother a good feel of the club, what it’s like, how it’s run, the expectations.
“It’s always good to have that person in the squad who you can bounce ideas off. It could be a good thing.
“But on the flip side of that, he could be saying ‘I’ve not had the best time here so it might not be for you.”
