'Scottish Ronaldo' - Celtic fans react on Twitter to Under-17s victory over Rangers

Celtic fans have expressed their delight on Twitter after their Under-17 team ran out 2-1 victors over fierce rivals Rangers on Thursday evening.

The Hoops youngsters had to battle for the Glasgow Cup at Firhill with goals on either side of half time from Ewan Henderson and Jack Aitchison needed to cancel out a Matthew Shiels goal.

The young Celtic team also had to see out the final three minutes of the match with 10 men after Kerr McInroy was handed a second yellow card on the 87th minute.

The victory understandably caused great delight among the Bhoys’ fan base on social media with many keen to see their youngsters win silverware, especially over their rivals.

It is the fourth consecutive year that the Celtic youngsters have lifted the Glasgow Cup and Hoops fans were keen to hail their young players.

One fan labelled winning scorer Aitchison the “Scottish Ronaldo”, while others aired their congratulations.

Aitchison, 17, is considered a bright prospect in the Hoops’ youth ranks and he has already made three appearances for the senior team, returning one goal and one assist.

The Celtic fan base have high hopes for the 17-time capped Scotland Under-17 international and they will be sure to keep an eye on his promising career in the youth ranks.

Meanwhile, the senior team will also be facing Rangers on Sunday at Hampden for a Scottish Cup semi-final showdown.
