Scouts deployed: Tottenham plot summer swoop for Celtic assist king - report
By Aramide Oladipo
Tottenham are interested in signing Celtic defender Kieran Tierney this summer, according to a report.
The Mirror claims on the live transfer blog on their website (Sunday, 05.33am) that the North London club are looking for a potential replacement for Danny Rose and they believe that the 20-year-old is the perfect fit.
The newspaper reports that the Premier League side could be willing to listen to late offers for Rose this summer as club chairman Daniel Levy was far from pleased by the player’s public comments criticising Spurs’ summer transfer policy.
The report claims that Spurs sent one of their chief scouts to monitor the full-back during Celtic’s emphatic 5-0 Champions League win over Astana last week.
Tierney has impressed with his performances over the couple of years with the SPL champions and last season, he provided a fantastic attacking threat, notching up an incredible tally of 12 assists in all competitions.

The youngster’s displays played a key role in helping the Hoops achieve a sensational treble and remain undefeated throughout the domestic campaign.
The Scotland international currently has four years remaining on his contract at Celtic Park.
Football Insider verdict
This could turn out to be a massive blow for the Hoops. Tottenham are a team in the ascendancy and most young players would surely be tempted to work under manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has helped turn Rose and Kyle Walker into international first-choice options and he could potentially work miracles with Tierney in the near-future. Celtic must do everything within their power to convince the youngster to stay and develop his game in Scotland if they want to continue their domination domestically. With four years left on his contract, Celtic would be looking to receive a substantial amount of money for the defender but this deal could depend on whether Spurs decide to sell Rose in the current transfer window.
In other Celtic news, the odds have been slashed on the Scottish giants signing a West Ham big-money player.
