Alan Shearer has hit back at Tottenham fans on Twitter after he was accused of singling out Dele Alli for criticism on Match of the Day 2. Talking after the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, Shearer pointed to another incidence of Alli diving to try and get a penalty after not getting an earlier decision he should have been given. "The reason he probably

didn’t get it is because he now has this reputation.

I think that’s a penalty," Shearer said on MotD2 (Sunday, BBC2, 10.30pm).

"The next one there’s no other word for it apart from cheating. It’s a blatant dive. He goes down far too easily. He’s on his way down a yard from the goalkeeper. Why can’t he ride the challenge? You see that from Messi all the time."

Tottenham fans took to Twitter to take issue with Shearer but he was in bullish mood on Monday morning and fired back at two fans who accused him of singling out the Tottenham attacker. First he said that Alli has been booked three times for diving and asked whether the Tottenham fans would prefer he didn't do it. Then he pointed out that the reason he didn't talk about an incident involving Jack Wilshere was because Match of the Day is a Premier league highlights show.
