Top four club in hunt to sign Celtic 23-year-old as replacement for international - report

Serie A club Lazio are still interested in signing Celtic centre-back Jozo Simunovic, according to a report.
Rome-based newspaper Il Tempo claimed in their print edition – as translated by Sports Witness – that the 23-year-old defender is a target of Lazio sporting director Igli Tare.

It is understood that the side currently 4th in Serie A are interested in signing Simuvonic to replace Netherlands international Stefan De Vrij, who is expected to leave the Stadio Olimpico in the summer.
The newspaper goes on to claim that Lazio may not be willing to pay what the Hoops want for the player who signed a new contract earlier this season.
The Bosnian centre-back has just recently regained his place in the Hoops first team following an injury suffered by Dedryck Boyata, after being dropped following a poor performance in the 4-0 loss to Hearts in December.
Football Insider verdict
Simunovic’s future is certainly something to keep an eye on in the summer. His performances range from either brilliant to terrible, and it wouldn’t be a shock if he was sold if a team offered a decent amount of money for the player. As he has recently signed a new long-term deal with the Hoops, it would take in the region of £10million for him to be sold. There have constantly been rumours surrounding the Bosnian defender, and indeed in August 2016 he was close to joining Torino but the deal fell though at the last minute. This time however, if the money is right Brendan Rodgers may well authorise the selling of the player and use the cash to find a far more consistent defender.
