Paul Robinson claims Xherdan Shaqiri would be a good signing for any club in the bottom half of the Premier League as he eyes a Liverpool exit.
The former Tottenham goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists that Shaqiri proved he has no problem playing for a team at the lower end of the division during his time with Stoke.
Football Insider has revealed that Shaqiri has told his agent to find him a new club with transfer interest from Roma, Lazio and Sevilla.
Shaqiri, 29, has only started seven games in all competitions this season and only has one goal to his name.
Despite foreign interest, Robinson insists that Shaqiri will be a target for teams at the lower end of the Premier League table if he leaves Anfield.
“He’s a good player and he proved that he can do it at the lower end of the league when he was at Stoke,” Robinson told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“He’s not afraid to play football a different way and he’s not afraid of the battles that playing for one of those sides brings.
“He showed his talent in a struggling Stoke team and was able to generate that move to Liverpool.
“He’d be a good addition to any of the clubs at the lower end of the Premier League and possibly some of the teams who will come up next season.”
Shaqiri’s best moment this season came as Liverpool breezed to a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup as he picked up two assists.
It is worth noting that the Villa side on the night was mainly made up of youth players after many of the first team were struck down with coronavirus.
