Michael Brown expects Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli to stay at the club beyond today’s 11pm transfer deadline.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs midfielder believes the 24-year-old can still play a role for his former club because of his attitude.
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham are bracing themselves for a last-minute £6million loan offer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Alli has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho this season and has not started a Premier League game since Spurs’ opening day defeat to Everton.
However, last week the Spurs manager did praise the former MK Dons man’s attitude to being dropped.
Mourinho said: “The only thing I can say is he’s being very, very professional. I have only respect for him.”
Asked by Football Insider whether he could see Alli leaving north London before the transfer deadline, Brown said: “Because of the sheer value of Dele it’s not a simple one that you can do late on in the window where somebody comes and takes him.
“What I would say is that it doesn’t look the relationship (between Mourinho and Alli) is good at the moment.
“This is a challenge for Dele if he doesn’t get out.
“Mourinho said he’s been excellent in training last week. That’s the type of player you want, that’s a good reaction by Dele.
“If he is there he’s got to fight to get back into the team.
“He’s a great player, he’s got all the attributes.
“Hopefully, and I think a lot of Spurs supporters hope, that he can give some real dynamism going forward.
“Kane, Moura, Vinicius, Son, Bale, Bergwijn and Dele, that’s not bad attacking options is it?”
