Carroll 'perfect' for Sheffield United after contract news confirmed - Kenny
Andy Carroll would be perfect for Sheffield United following his Newcastle United exit.
That is according to Blades legend Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Carroll’s next destination following his release.
Quoted by Sky Sports on 19th July, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce confirmed the 32-year-old had been let go following the expiry of his contract.
Carroll, 32, re-signed for Newcastle in the summer of 2019 and netted just once in 43 appearances.
But Kenny insists that Carroll could thrive at Bramall Lane and bring more variety to their attacking play.
“He’s had some bad injuries and he’s getting older now,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“But if he wants to carry on playing he’d be an amazing player for someone in the Championship. I’d love to see him at Sheffield United.
“They were a bit one-dimensional last season. It felt like they only had one game plan.
“Sometimes you’re losing and you’re desperate for a goal and it might be better to go a little bit more direct.
“I understand you can’t do that for 90 minutes. But someone like him could do wonders to mix your game up sometimes and make sure you’re not always playing the same way.
“If you are chasing a game, he’d be an unbelievable signing. I’d love to see him there. I think he’d be perfect.”
David McGoldrick was the Blades’ top scorer in 2020-21 with nine goals.
They also have Billy Sharp, Lys Mousset, Daniel Jebbison and Oli McBurnie on the books in the centre-forward position.
