Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall were both named in the Sheffield Wednesday starting line-up against Birmingham – and the club’s supporters were thrilled at the prospect of the attacking pair on Twitter.

Carlos Carvalhal has decided to make three changes to his side as Winnall, Morgan Fox and Sam Hutchinson come into the side.

Meanwhile, Daniel Pudil, Adam Reach and David Jones have dropped out of the starting XI following the narrow 1-0 win over Wigan.

Wednesday will be looking for revenge against Birmingham after losing the previous meeting this season 2-1, but will have the home advantage on Friday night.

The club’s supporters voiced their excitement that Rhodes and Winnall will form the frontline and they are expecting them to secure the three points.

Here is a selection of their messages:

Rhodes completed his move to Hillsborough in the January window and will be hoping to rediscover his best form.

The 27-year-old managed a vital assist in his debut against Wigan and will be looking to get off the mark against Birmingham.

Meanwhile, forward Winnall has been recalled to the starting XI and has a strong goalscoring record this season.

The 26-year-old also move to the club in the January window and is still searching for his first Wednesday goal, despite netting 11 times already this season for Barnsley.

The Yorkshire club will be hoping to strengthen their position in the play-off places and will go five points clear of seventh with a victory.
