Sheffield Wednesday fans say the same thing about Svante Ingelsson as 1.88 stat revealed
Svante Ingelsson has been a standout player for Sheffield Wednesday this season despite their relegation to League One.
The Championship outfit finally had a day of celebration on Saturday as their takeover by David Storch and Arise Capital Partners consortium was completed.
On top of this, their 15-point deduction for the start of the 2026-27 campaign was rescinded, and now Wednesday will begin to prepare for the new season on an even footing.
After their 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion, Svante Ingelsson was awarded Sheffield Wednesday’s Player of the Year award for his efforts in what has been a gruelling season.
Now, many fans have called for Ingelsson to be given the captaincy as Sheffield Wednesday look to quickly recover from their relegation.
Sheffield Wednesday fans want Svante Ingelsson to become captain
Since arriving at the Owls last summer, Ingelsson has been excellent.
Despite the troubles of the current campaign, the 27-year-old has continued to perform to the best of his abilities, which saw him awarded with three Player of the Month awards this season.
| Svante Ingelsson’s Championship stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| xA | 0.11 |
| Chances created | 1.07 |
| Successful crosses | 0.80 |
| Aerial duels won | 1.10 |
| Touches in oppositon box | 1.88 |
| Tackles | 1.77 |
Therefore, it was of little surprise when he won the Player of the Year award, something Ingelsson truly deserved.
Now, fans have called for him to be awarded the captain’s armband for next season as they pray that he will stick around.

How good has Ingelsson been this season?
According to Fotmob on 2 May, Ingelsson has had an excellent campaign considering the circumstances.
The centre-midfielder has been averaging a 0.11 xA, 1.07 chances created, 0.80 successful crosses, 1.10 aerial duels won, 1.88 touches in the opposition box and 1.77 tackles per 90 minutes.
Therefore, it would be a massive coup for Wednesday if they were able to keep hold of Ingelsson in League One, with the midfielder likely to be one of the best players in the division.
Now that the takeover has been completed, it is a chance for the club to start on a clean slate after what has been a difficult 12 months, as they look to return to their best.
Hopefully, it will not be long until Wednesday are not only back in the Championship but also fighting for promotion into the Premier League once more.
