Simon Grayson hits out at Leeds ahead of Preston game, states what is a disgrace

By Amir Mir

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson has hit out at Leeds for their “disgraceful” ticket prices ahead of their clash at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Yorkshire club are charging the away supporters £37 for the Championship encounter with Premier League clubs charging a lot less for the matches.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Lee Sobot posted Grayson’s comments on his personal Twitter account as the former Whites manager was not happy.

“It is bordering on a disgrace,” said Grayson. “That is £37 for a Championship fixture and £42 on the day. We charge £24, which is realistic. How can Championship clubs charge more than Premier League teams?”

It is not yet known how may Preston supporters will travel to Leeds for what is a crucial Championship encounter.

The Whites are currently sitting in the play-off places, but Grayson’s free-scoring team can close the eight-point gap on their rivals in the table.

Furthermore, the away team will be boosted by the fact that Garry Monk’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats, including a 2-0 away loss at Brentford on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Grayson guided his team to a thumping 5-0 win over relegation strugglers Bristol City on the same day as the Lilywhites kept their promotion hopes alive.

There are six matches of the Championship season remaining and there is still the possibility that Leeds could drop out of the top six.

However, they will be hoping they can repeat the performance they produced against their weekend opponents during the reverse fixture in December.

At that time, Monk guided his team to an impressive 4-1 win at Deepdale despite star striker Chris Wood missing that encounter.
