Simon Jordan delivers verdict on Aston Villa, aims brutal dig at rivals
By Amir Mir
Simon Jordan has delivered a brutal dig at Birmingham City by stating “it’s around the corner from a proper club like Aston Villa”.
The former Crystal Palace owner was asked on Twitter by a Blues supporter to buy the club and sack their current under-fire manager Gianfranco Zola.
Italian Zola took charge of the Midlands club in December replacing the sacked Gary Rowett who had the club, at the time, sitting just outside of the top six.
However, since Zola has arrived, the former playmaker has implemented a passing style to the club, a massive change from the robust and tough side that was built under his predecessor.
As a result, they have won only two matches under his reign and one fan asked former Palace man Jordan to buy the club and he offered this response.

“I have to be honest, the best thing about Birmingham City FC is it’s around the corner from a proper club in Aston Villa,” Jordan replied.

Zola’s side are sitting in 17th place on 43 points from their 36 games, two points and two places behind their bitter rivals Villa.
The Blues were beaten at home on Tuesday night when relegation-threatened Wigan recorded a 1-0 win at St Andrew’s.
Villa, who are managed by former Birmingham boss Steve Bruce, recorded a 1-1 draw at their rivals earlier on in the season.
They will next meet in the Championship at Villa Park on April 23 with the duo looking to win the bragging rights for the season.
In other Aston Villa news, Ian Taylor has vented his frustration at the team’s performance against Huddersfield.
